Do you drag yourself out of bed feeling like you only slept two hours when, in fact, you’d been in bed for eight? Do you refuse to talk to anyone until you’ve downed that first cup of joe? Would you like to feel more rested upon waking? What if what you eat and when you eat could be keeping you from getting that restful night of sleep? Follow these tips from the American Dietetic Association for a good night’s sleep.

• Have a small meal or snack no less than three hours before going to bed if you suffer from heartburn at night.

• Limit your nighttime intake of caffeine from coffee, soft drinks and energy drinks. Some individuals are what is known as “caffeine sensitive.” Those with this condition should avoid caffeinated drinks as much as 6 to 8 hours before bedtime.
